This year the IEEE Austria Section established an award which intends to recognize the effort of its student members working in Student Branches and to motivate them to organize even more activities. The award is given to the Student Branch which organized the greatest num-ber of attractive events in the previous year.

In recognition of the great variety of activities, which were organized by its members, the SB JKU Linz received the „Most Active Student Branch Award“ during this year’s general assembly on October, 11th in the “Kuppelsaal” of the TU Wien.

The activities of the SB JKU Linz in the last year included:

  • Introductory LaTeX-course,
  • Excursions to CERN, AKW Zwentendorf, and AKH Linz,
  • Student Paper Contest (in cooperation with Siemens VAI, 1500 EUR prize money),
  • Participation in the R8 Student Branch Congress in Madrid,
  • Monthly meetings, some of those sponsored by companies.

The award has been presented to the chair of the SB JKU Linz, Norbert Eidenberger, by the Austria Section secretary, Peter Palensky. The award comes with a 1000 EUR prize which will be utilized to finance future activities.
